A glimpse into my life

Raise you hand if you like Mollie's new outfit, it's bright, fun, and festive, right. She even has new shoes and those are cute too. So a new outfit, why am I posting that, you ask yourself? It isn't a very cute outfit when I had to buy it becasue she puked all over her other clothes.

Those who know my children will completely understand this story, those who don't, welcome to my life. My children, all three of them have intensely sensitive gag reflexes. When they get a cough, they throw up, when they smell something funky, they throw up, when they have too much food in their mouth or they taste something different, they throw up, get the idea. I have cleaned more throw up in my last 6 years as a mom than I care to think about.

Last night, Tyler had to do a mystery shop at the McDonald's in Burley, so we thought, let's make this a family outing, dinner at McD's, time together as we drive to Burley, nice right? As we were nearing the exit, Mollie started to cough and the cough got harder, I knew what was coming so I jumped into the back and she did it, she threw up all over herself. GROSS!, the worst part is, my other children do not handle this well, so we are frantically rolling down windows, and yelling, "Plug your nose, don't look!". I was not about to have more of this. As soon as we pulled into the parking lot of McD's I was yanking gagging kids out of the car and I looked across the street and there was Walmart. We ran over to Walmart and bought Mollie her precious new little outfit, a large box of handiwipes, and a bottle of cough medicine. Needless to say, our fun family outing, as usual, was full of surprises.
Alicia's Irony: 2 of my least favorite places in the world are McDonald's and Walmart, I am a germaphobe and a snob, so add a little throw up and you have entered my personal Hell. Someone slap me, the next time I get a bright idea like this one!

Trip to the Dentist

Today was a pivotal moment in Reagan and Elise's life. This was Elise's first trip to the dentist, and Reagan learned he has 2 loose teeth, that should fall out this summer. He is very excited. Both kids did outstanding and I am proud to report, no cavities, (which in reality my happiness is because I don't have to take them back to the dentist for 6 more months and I don't have to pay to have cavities filled, yeah!) Tammy, the hygienist, was amazing. She had those kids loving getting their teeth cleaned. Reagan got to use the suction thing on Elise while she was having her teeth polished and Elise used it on Reagan. They had so much fun and they love their new Power Ranger and Princess Aurora toothbrushes. Mollie even got to sit in the chair and she got a Piglet toothbrush.
Here they are, anxious with anticipation to see the Dentist.

Love the cool sunglasses, she let the kids wear them so the light was not as bright!

Elise was a hoot, she has a future career as a hygienist, she was asking all kinds of questions.

Cute toothbrush Mollie, and yes she still drinks a bottle and today I was very grateful for that bottle.

August Rush

Two Thumbs Up!Tyler and I just finished watching August Rush and I had to post about it. I loved it, it was emotional, moving and made me think. I will admit this film is not going to be for everyone, it is pretty artsy, where the viewer has to think, unlike so many movies that are made. The music is amazing and you can just feel it, I got teary eyed a few times, and I didn't want it to end. I really want the soundtrack. I may have to check that one out on iTunes, some of the music would be great to run to. Anyway, if you are in the mood for a good, solid, somewhat artistic film, check out August Rush. If you have already seen it tell me what you thought about it.

Reed diffusers and Light Sabers

WARNING: Random thoughts
This is a silly post, but I was sitting in my living room and my house smelled so nice and I realized, oh my reed diffuser is working. I love it, it is so subtle and yet so elegant looking. Anyway, just thought I would share.

This morning during morning prayers, Mollie found the Light Saber and proceeded to attack all of us during the prayer. Not very reverent, but really quite funny. She was so determined to get each of us, so here is my Jedi daughter.

Cool effects with the light, she has the force, or whatever it is, I am so not a Star Wars person. I actually had to look up what this weapon thing was called for sure, sad I know.

Happy Birthday Elise and Happy Mother's Day to all Moms

Yesterday, Elise and I got to share the day. It was Elise's 4th birthday as well as Mother's Day and we had so much fun. I told her she could pick what she wanted to do and here was her plan. She wanted to play with her toys and my toys together, do Bella Dancerella, and watch Dora with me while eating popcorn. So that is what we did. We climbed into my bed and watched a Dora DVD while munching on yummy popcorn. She also requested hot dogs for dinner, so we decided to BBQ and invite some family over. So much fun, we had 2 sets of Grandparents, and three sets of Aunts and Uncles. They all spoiled Elise and she loved it, thank-you everyone.

We did fun Princess Birthday cupcakes instead of a cake, so cute.
She loves that she is now 4.
For my Mother's Day Tyler gave me the reed diffuser from Pier One, Crispy Bamboo scent that I have been wanting, and a new bedding set, love it all. The duvet cover is chocolate brown and the sheet set is a dark nougat colored, so it is like sleeping in a candy bar.

Tyler in the Dunk Tank!

Today US Bank joined forces with Relay for Life to raise money. They had BBQ hot dogs and hamburgers and a dunk tank set up outside the Blue Lakes Branch. All of the employees got to take a turn in the tank. When it was Tyler's turn we were right there. The kids had so much fun watching him drop and then get splashed, it was hilarious. I captured a little of it. Enjoy!

Bring it on!

No Sweets May officially starts today. Tyler and I started about a week ago, but the official start day is today. This is the third year in a row of No Sweets May, so we'll see what this year brings. I am excited about it, my parents, and a few of my sisters are doing it as well so the support will be nice. I'll keep you posted. Anyone up for the challenge?
